As I briefly mentioned in my last email, I intend to send out actual physical letters. I have been thinking about the letter idea for a while: it’s nice to get something in the mail that isn’t junk mail, isn’t it?

With the letters I am going to combine a few of my interests and/or things I am working on.

The text will be written in the kind of tone I’m using for these emails. Most of the text will be typed/printed since my handwriting usually only serves like an encryption device. But I’m going to sign things because there need to be some handwritten traces, right?

Each letter will (probably) centre on one of my photographs. I don’t know this for sure, yet. The prototype does (pictured above; this is US letter-sized paper, which gives you a sense of the scale).

And every letter will come with a little print, lovingly made in my studio. The first letter also comes with a little thermal print, which comes taped to the letter (for reasons that will be clear from the text).

After all, I am also a photographer, not “just” a writer. I thought that besides books (expensive, infrequent), galleries (I’m not using that route), and the hellhole that is Instagram (I’m not using that route) there might be different ways to get one’s photographs out into the world.

We’ll see how it goes.

In any case, the basic parameters will probably always be the same. There’s a short sign-up period: I announce the next letter, and if you’re interested, you can sign up. There’s a deadline (this time it’s 18 September 2026): you can only sign up within that time frame. If you miss it, you will have to wait for the next letter (right now, I’m thinking I will do this every two months or so — assuming there is interest).

Getting one of my letters will cost you $10 (US; if you want to pay me more I will not stop you, though). This is intended to cover my costs (materials, shipping, tea). I bought some sturdy envelopes so everything should arrive OK.
