Newsletter for September 6th 2026
Join us for worship this Sunday!
"Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving!" (Ps. 95:2)
Events This Sunday
10:45 AM Morning Worship: Elder Wayne Bowen will be leading us in worship and Elder Michael Nowling will be preaching.
Sermon: ”Jonah and the Sailors”
Scripture: Jonah 1
Lord's Supper – We will be partaking of the Lord’s Supper during the Morning Worship Service. According to the Westminster Shorter Catechism Q97, those of us preparing to receive the Lord’s Supper are to examine ourselves of our knowledge to discern the Lord’s body, of our faith to feed upon him, of our repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, we eat and drink judgment to ourselves.
12:30 PM Adult Sunday School: "Buyers Choice" Join us as we will continue looking at how Christians can share their faith with a culture that prizes personal autonomy.
Children Sunday School: Deb Bowen will be teaching children from 3 years on up, in the front Sunday School room.
Church Luncheon: Immediately following our Sunday School.
All are invited. Plan to stay for food and fellowship.
Reminder: This Sunday we're asking those with a last name beginning with A-G to please bring a main dish & side dish to serve 12 or so people.
Snacks: All are welcome to bring snacks as they desire.
Special Prayer Requests
- Mark and Martha Herzer - Praise God, Mark is home!
While Mark recovers, he will be on medical leave. If you have any questions or any needs, please contact one of the elders. Their contact information is on the back of the weekly bulletin, or you can just reply to this newsletter.
- Josephs's Father - Please pray for his continued recovery from bypass surgery.
- Paul Hammond - Please pray as he recovers from a very sore shoulder from his recent fall.
- Jeff & Elena Kermah - Praise God that more and more are attending their Sunday morning worship. Pray that the Lord will provide a larger place to meet. Their current place is becoming too cramped and hot (even with fans). Jeff asks specific prayer that he might be able to disciple a certain young man who is in his final year of college.
Continue to pray for Elena and her health as she homeschools the older children.
Catechism Review
Don’t forget to keep up with your Westminster Shorter Catechism (WSC)! We are learning Q&A #63 this week:
Q. 63. Which is the fifth commandment?
A. The fifth commandment is, Honor thy father and thy mother; that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
