"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!" (Ps. 106:1)
Events this Sunday
10:45 AM Morning Worship: Elder Terry Carnes will be leading us in worship and Ken Wendland will be preaching.
Sermon: ”God’s Power and Promise (Part 2)”
Scripture: 2 Peter 1:3-11
Lord's Supper – We will be partaking of the Lord’s Supper during the Morning Worship Service. According to the Westminster Shorter Catechism Q97, those of us preparing to receive the Lord’s Supper are to examine ourselves of our knowledge to discern the Lord’s body, of our faith to feed upon him, of our repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, we eat and drink judgment to ourselves.
12:30 PM Adult Sunday School: Join us as Pastor Ken Wendland concludes his two-week study on Hermeneutics - "Rightly Handling the Word of Truth."
Children Sunday School: Deb Bowen will be teaching children from 3 years on up, in the front Sunday School room.
Church Luncheon: Immediately following our Sunday School. All are invited. Plan to stay for food and fellowship.
Reminder: This Sunday we're asking those with a last name beginning with A-G to please bring a main dish & side dish to serve 12 or so people.
Snacks: All are welcome to bring snacks as they desire.
Special Prayer Requests
- Pastor Mark Herzer is on medical leave - During this time, please direct all questions or concerns to one of the elders.
- Pastor Mark Herzer (update) - Mark's cardiologist has put him on additional medication which is hoped to double his heart function. Please pray to this end.
The data gathered from his LifeVest has shown no abnormal heart functions, but he must wear an additional monitor to keep track of how things are going. He will wear his LifeVest until the first week in August, after which he will be re-evaluated to determine treatment moving forward.
Please pray that the Lord would sustain Mark and give the doctors wisdom to determine the proper treatment.
Pray also for Martha as she cares for her mom (Jan), and that the Lord might have mercy on Jan and open her eyes to receive Christ.
- Patty Carnes - Hernia surgery has been scheduled for Monday, June 1st.
- Tim Roof - Surgery is scheduled for May 7 for removal of a tumor from his kidney.
We praise the Lord that we are all in His hands and can fully rest in His love and care. Pray that we would all honor Him as we trust in Him.
Catechism Review
Don’t forget to keep up with your Westminster Shorter Catechism (WSC)! We are learning Q&A #57 this week:
Q. 57. Which is the fourth commandment?
A. The fourth commandment is, Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
This is the longest answer in the entire WSC! So let's break it up into three parts. This week, let's try to learn:
"The fourth commandment is, Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God:"
