"Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving!" (Ps. 95:2)

Events This Sunday

10:45 AM Morning Worship: Elder Terry Carnes will be leading us in worship and Pastor Mark Herzer will be preaching.

Sermon: ”Mercy on Him and Me”

Scripture: Philippians 2:14-30

Lord's Supper – We will be partaking of the Lord’s Supper during the Morning Worship Service. According to the Westminster Shorter Catechism Q97, those of us preparing to receive the Lord’s Supper are to examine ourselves of our knowledge to discern the Lord’s body, of our faith to feed upon him, of our repentance, love, and new obedience; lest, coming unworthily, we eat and drink judgment to ourselves.

12:30 PM Adult Sunday School: Join us as Pastor Mark Herzer continues our study of the Westminster Larger Catechism, looking at Q&A #40 and considering the question why it was important that the Mediator of the covenant of grace be God and man in one person.

Children Sunday School: Deb Bowen will be teaching children from 3 years on up, in the front Sunday School room.

Church Luncheon: Immediately following our Sunday School. All are invited. Plan to stay for food and fellowship.

Reminder: This Sunday we're asking those with a last name beginning with A-G to please bring a main dish & side dish to serve 12 or so people.

Snacks: All are welcome to bring snacks as they desire.

2026 PCA General Assembly

Last week Terry shared a summary of what happened during our denomination's annual meeting. Several showed interest in additional information, so here are some additional links:

  • Entire Livestream of the Three Days (not for the faint of heart!) - (over 23 hours!)
  • Highlights and Significant Speeches - Put together by Jude 3 and the PCA (almost 2 hours)
  • What REALLY Happened: PCA General Assembly Review 2026 A recap from Pastor Matthew Everhard in western PA. (1/2 hour)
  • Elder Terry's Speech (>3 minutes)
  • I Love the USA Speech (<3 minutes)
  • The InfoGraphic about the Christian Nationalism Partial Report.

Once they make the two partial reports (Directory for Worship and Christian Nationalism) publicly available, we will provide links for them as well.

Special Prayer Requests

  • Mark and Martha Herzer - Mark will most likely undergo double bypass surgery at the end of July or beginning of August. He has three appointments next week. Please continue to keep Mark and Martha in prayer.
  • Patty Carnes - Her hernia surgery is scheduled for Friday, July 24th. May the Lord help manage the pain until then.
  • Jeff & Elena Kermah - The elders spoke with Jeff this week and he asked for prayer:
    • Jeff is looking to plant a church on the campus of the University of Cape Coast. Pray for wisdom, guidance, and that the Lord would provide a place for them to meet.
    • Please pray for good leaders to be raised up, men of good Christian character, wisdom, and maturity.
    • Continue to pray for Elena and her health as she homeschools the older children.

Catechism Review

Don’t forget to keep up with your Westminster Shorter Catechism (WSC)! We are Reviewing Q&A #58 & #59 this week:

Q. 58. What is required in the fourth commandment?

A. The fourth commandment requireth the keeping holy to God such set times as He hath appointed in His word; expressly one whole day in seven, to be a holy sabbath to Himself.

Q. 59. Which day of the seven hath God appointed to be the weekly sabbath?

A. From the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, God appointed the seventh day of the week to be the weekly sabbath; and the first day of the week ever since, to continue to the end of the world, which is the Christian sabbath.

Upcoming Events

July 8th - Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting via Zoom. We will read and discuss a passage in Jeremiah, and spend some time in prayer. Contact Pastor Mark or one of the elders if you would like to receive the weekly Zoom link.

Saturday, July 11th - Church Work Day

CANCELLED

Looks like we won't have enough people around to pull this off, so we will reschedule sometime this Fall (when it should be a bit cooler!) However, don't be surprised if you see some changes happening during the summer months!

News and Announcements

Sunday Afternoon Book Studies - We are taking a break from these studies for the summer.

New Streaming Options - We are now livestreaming directly to Sermon Audio which simulcasts to FaceBook as well. Sermon Audio calls it a Webcast and you can find it on the church's SermonAudio page. As before, you can also view using the church’s Facebook page.

Peace and Grace to you,
Elder Terry Carnes
