Treasure Coast Indivisible Notes

Good morning

Today is a WCID day

A piece of news from Punch Bowl News that shows Senator Moody knows she has problems:

A handful of GOP senators broke with their colleagues repeatedly to vote for Democrats’ amendments opposing Trump’s ”anti-weaponization fund,” White House ballroomand acting DNI.

Many of the amendments were at a 60-vote threshold, so they didn’t cause GOP leaders too much anxiety. But they underscored that Senate Democrats will be able to use amendments to put the GOP in a tough political spot with the midterms just months away.

GOP Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Dan Sullivan (Alaska) and Jon Husted (Ohio) — all facing tough reelection fights — backed amendments on the fund and ballroom. Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Fla.), who’s on the ballot this November, was among eight Republicans supporting an amendment to bar payouts to rioters who assaulted police on Jan. 6.

So please call and/ or email her. Here is a script from Jessica Cravens

“Hi, I’m a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.

First, I’m calling to ask the Senator to vote NO on the Clarity Act. I’m alarmed that Trump is using cryptocurrency to let billionaires, big tech, and foreign governments bribe him personally. Senators shouldn’t be considering or supporting any crypto bills that won’t do anything to stop Trump’s corruption. I expect the Senator to oppose this bill. [H/T] [Fact sheet]

Second, I want the Senator to vote no on any FISA extension unless there are strong privacy protections added, like closing the data broker loophole and ending warrantless surveillance. It’s not enough to make blocking Bill Pulte a condition for passage, although Congress needs to do that, too. We need Pulte gone AND we need privacy protections because this administration is corrupt, punitive, and dangerous. Thanks.

Finally, I want the Senator to support the Ukraine Support Act now that it’s passed the House. This is really important to me. We MUST stand with Ukraine. Thanks.”

now for the fun stuff. Indivisible Palm Beach is having a Rise Up Sing Out Beach Party and we are all invited.

Don’t forget tomorrow is Protest at Mast’s Office Wednesday. 11–12. Hope you can be there. We have a massive string of unbroken Wednesdays.

It’s also primary day here in Maine but I’m saving my votes for Florida’s primary day August 18th. Make sure you and everyone you know is registered to vote. Don’t delay.
