Treasure Coast Indivisible Notes

Good morning

There is so much going on right and so much we must do to resist. So this will be a list of WCID’s ( what can I do). Pick one, two …

  1. continue to call or email Scott and Moody. 202-224-3121 is the Congressional switchboard. You can also email them by going to their website site. Here is a script:

Hi, my name is ______ and I’m calling from _______. I am calling to encourage the Senator to ensure that ICE meet basic expectations of every other law enforcement in the US, and that ICE is demilitarized. Unmask and identify these agents, demand judicial warrants, end racial profiling and take their weapons of warfare away. Why is an agency, tasked with civil arrests, armed like the military? We have seen the deadly result of having armed, masked officers immune to legal accountability roam the streets. please vote against funding Homeland Security.

I want the Senate to pass the ACA Premium Tax Credit extensions. Congress may think we’ve forgotten about this issue but we haven’t—because we are drowning in healthcare bills! We need the Senate to pass those subsidies so we can afford our insurance premiums.

    Thank you.

  2. Continue to call Mast. 202-224-3121. Script is slightly different

“I’m calling because I understand that House Republicans may be trying to put a more extreme version of the SAVE Act—either the Make Elections Great Again Act or the Save America Act—into the current DHS funding bill. I oppose that strenuously. Those are all voter suppression bills—they are unneeded and destructive.

Furthermore, I want the Congressmember to oppose any appropriations bill that maintains ICE funding. These untrained thugs are endangering public safety and need to be held accountable.”

  3. Florida legislators are working on bad bills too. Today or ASAP please contact the senators on the Ethics and Elections Committee and tell them you want them to oppose SB 1334 - the FL version of the ‘SAVE’ Act. There will be a hearing Wednesday morning. Let's use our collective voices to stop this atrocious bill now!

SB 1334 makes it highly likely that eligible U.S. citizens will be removed from the voter rolls purely due to red tape. By requiring that U.S. citizens seeking to exercise their right to vote have to produce documentation that is expensive and hard to get, this legislation

  4. Check your own voter registration and sign up for vote by mail. Remember you have to sign up after every national election

In St Lucie the email is www.slcelections.com

    In Martin the email is

    www.Martinvotes.gov

  5. At Our meeting on Thursday @5:30 at the Cummings Library, Ana Maria Soares, the secretary of the TC Democratic Hispanic Caucus, will be our guest.

  6. that’s enough for today.

    Barbara & Ginger
