Treasure Coast Indivisible Notes

Good morning

We have 2 events for you to put on your calendar

And the next day, from Roberta Scott

We invite you to join us, on Sunday, September 13 at 3PM at Unity of Stuart, 211 SE Central Pkwy, for an important conversation about immigration and the impact that current policies are having on people and families in our community.

This is not a partisan or political issue. It is a human dignity issue.

People in our own communities are living in fear. They worry that if they go to the grocery store, to work, take their children to school, attend church, or simply go about their daily lives, they could be picked up, placed in detention, or deported—leaving spouses, parents, and children behind.

For those protected by DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), delays or failures to renew their status in time can mean losing their work permits and the ability to legally work and support their families.

For people with TPS (Temporary Protected Status), the removal or ending of their protection can also mean losing their work authorization and the ability to provide for their families. These policies have real consequences for real people, real families, and our entire community.

Regardless of our political beliefs, we can come together around values we share: human dignity, compassion, respect, justice, and the belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and humanity.

This forum is an opportunity to learn, listen, ask questions, share concerns, and better understand what is happening. It is a chance for our community to come together as neighbors, friends, families, and people who care about one another.

Attached is a flyer please share this and invite others who may benefit from this conversation.

Let’s listen. Let’s talk. Let’s find solutions.

Together, we can stand for human dignity and compassion in our community.

This morning Ginger and I are meeting with James Martin and his campaign manager to see how we can help him win our congressional seat. I’ll be back tomorrow with ideas and a time for our September meeting via Zoom to discuss it all.
