Read This!: Looking Back at the Fall of 1997
A podcast about the great movie years.
As we mention in the bonus episode (I think? We recorded it a while ago), back in 2017, I did a whole series of columns for VICE revisiting the movies of the fall of 1997 for their 20th anniversary. Every two weeks, I rewatched the films that had come out in that period and wrote about them both in context and from a contemporary perspective; Mike was into the idea, so he watched a lot of them with me, and as with much of my best work, a fair number of insights were purloined from him. So since I didn't have any first thoughts for any 1997 movies - I saw everything when it came out! - I figured we’d share them here, along with a brief excerpt from each.
