Extra Credit Reading for 1935
A podcast about the great movie years.
If you want to read more of Mr. Maltin, boy oh boy do you have options. Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide stop publishing in 2015, but here’s the final edition; even better, his publisher separated out the classics (pre-1965) for a stand-alone edition, titled Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide, and it is a must-have.
You should also read his wonderful memoir Starstruck: My Unlikely Road to Hollywood, which we mentioned on the show; other favorites that are readily and quickly available include Of Mice and Magic: A History of American Animated Cartoon, Leonard Maltin's 151 Best Movies You've Never Seen, The Great American Broadcast: A Celebration of Radio's Golden Age, and Hooked on Hollywood: Discoveries from a Lifetime of Film Fandom. And in 2015, he put out a revised edition of my beloved The Great Movie Comedians.
