Episode 41: 1995 with Sammi Cohen
A podcast about the great movie years.
This week, we’re pleased to welcome director, writer, and comedian Sammi Cohen, whose queer high school love triangle rom-com Crush (which is WONDERFUL) debuted last year on Hulu. Their new feature is an adaptation of the hit young adult novel You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitvah, produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions—and featuring Mr. Sandler and much of his family. It debuts on Netflix this Friday, August 25th, and hey, here’s a trailer:
Clueless is currently streaming on Paramount+, hurray, and also available for digital rental or purchase via the usual suspects. And if you’d like some additional reading, back when the movie turned 20, Jason’s distinguished Flavorwire colleague Alison Nastasi interviewed the great Amy Heckerling.
Seven is available for digital rental or purchase. Apollo 13 is streaming on Peacock, and is also available for digital rental or purchase, and same goes for Now and Then.
Billy Madison is streaming on Amazon Prime, but only for a couple more weeks, so get on it. It’s also available for digital rental or purchase.
As always, if you’d like to log and review these yourself, head on over to our list page on Letterboxd.
Oh, and hey, have you upgraded to a paid subscription yet? You can do that right here, and here’s what it’ll get you (spoiler: bonus episodes, bonus posts, and our undying love). As we mention in the ad, if you’re an Apple Podcasts listener and you’d like to just get the bonus episodes, you can do that with an Apple Premium subscription.
