[31 Days of Halloween] October 5, 2026
Hello, my lovely creepies and crawlies,

Isn’t it wild that Dracula is such an enduring character, and that we’re living in a time when he is like, red-hot? He really is everywhere I look these days (and no, I’m not only looking around hoping to see Dracula…most of the time, anyway.)
First, a quick guide from M. Lee Lunsford on who is and who is not a Dracula:

In recent years, we’ve had multiple screen adaptations, plus Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba from Wicked) had a one-woman show earlier this year where she played 23 roles (!).
Truly though, the hot meme of the day is focused on the Dracula audiobook reading by Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton in Bridgerton). It’s…sensual! In the way Gothic romances are supposed to be! (As you might imagine, since it’s dealing with, ahem, fluid exchange.) But it’s Dracula, so it’s not like, NSFW - just don’t listen to it in the office without headphones, I guess:
Here’s a cool Halloween party invite from 1913, recently sold at auction:

What’s your favorite Dracula adaptation (or fav non-Dracula)? Hit reply and let me know.
I’m a fan, fang you very much,
Laura
