Seeing as it’s the first newsletter, I wanted to explain the idea behind the Femme Futures Cooperative. Gen Z are entering the workplace, ready to make changes, and are running into so many roadblocks. Whether it is an entry level job where your sole responsibility is data entry, or a job that you cannot believe was ever labeled “entry-level” and how the hell are you accepting a salary this low to do this much work — the workplace is not an easy world to enter. Fortunately, the best people to show you the way are your peers. This is where Femme Futures comes in.

This is a space for the world changers and leaders who (for now) must adjust to entry-level roles, outdated professional culture, and unfair stigma. I have come across so many young people filled with ambition and drive in my time in the workforce. There is so much energy to do important things — but capitalism yells at each of us to slow down either by boring you to death or burning you out. The passion that you left college with gets tempered and those workplace obstacles become the things that turn your world a little more gray. What is worse, we are told that we are the only ones like us. That to be ambitious and passionate is a rarity. We are over-achieving islands.

I hope that through this forum, you are able to find community because there are so many people just like you. There are so many ways to face the same problems and develop in to the change maker that you envisioned at your graduation.

If you are like me and appreciate a good mission statement, this is for you: 

💚 Mission: The mission of Femme Futures is to create a community space for young professionals who identify as over-achievers and activists to generate collective success by providing resources and platforms to thrive in challenging workplace environments.

💙 Vision: To contribute to a world where driven individuals are equipped with the tools, guidance, and connections to overcome systemic barriers, fully utilize their talents, and enact positive change in their organizations and communities.
