held to the past, too aware of the pending

All right, team. Below is a selection of things I wrote in 2016-- freelance articles, Tumblr posts, even some previous editions of this Tinyletter. Coming in 2017: thoughts on being "a pretty girl," an interview with this dude in which he uses the phrase "the expanding Faberge egg of our consciousness," a piece about women who are not Joan Didion writing about Los Angeles, and more, I sincerely hope, plus, right, my second novel, Grace and the Fever. Have I mentioned yet that my birthday is next week? And that pre-ordering yourself a copy, online or from your local independent bookseller would, in fact, be a great gift to me? Doree explains why very succinctly here.

I've also decided that this year I'm asking folks who are excited that I'm alive and feel like spending money about the fact to donate to a local abortion provider, to provide direct support to women who can't afford the reproductive justice and control of their bodies that they, as human beings, just, like, fucking deserve. Obviously most of you don't actually know me and weren't going to buy me a birthday present so please don't mistake this for an an actual ask; it's just me saying, to this group of people who have very generously let me send a tumble of thoughts into their inboxes all these months, here's one more thing to give some attention and maybe some cash to. In case you don't have enough of those already.
