iter.ca update #3
Hi readers, welcome back to the infrequent iter.ca newsletter. I got back from Montreal and I’m currently visiting Berkeley for Inkhaven, a ~writing-retreat where you have to write a blog post every day (or you have to leave). Technically this very email counts as a blog post, but I don’t like the idea of using a meta post as my daily submission earlier so I’m going to write a real blog post later today too.
I’m going to be writing a lot for Inkhaven so I’m probably going to be sending out this newsletter every week or two. I hope my writing quality doesn’t suffer too much, but I’m going to be writing about a wider range of things than I normally do since otherwise I would run out of stuff to talk about pretty quickly.
If you have any ideas for what I should do while I’m in the SF bay area this month please let me know, you can DM me on Discord as @moreloops or reply to this email (assuming I got email replies working right; if I don’t reply please assume I didn’t get your email and try another contact method). Also please let me know if you have any ideas for what I should write about. I have a list of ideas but I’m going through them quickly.

Life updates
I had a lot of fun in Montreal, I saw some cool stuff there. The weather was pretty snowy when I got there in late February but it cleared up a lot when I left in late March. I climbed to the top (I think?) of Mount Royal; I got a pretty good view from there. Some of the staircases got completely snowed over and I had to awkwardly climb up the part adjacent to the stairs while clinging on to the railing.

I flew back to Toronto via the downtown island airport (YTZ). Normally you go straight from the airport to the city through the pedestrian tunnel without going outside, but I learned that you can actually walk out of the airport terminal and go to the riverside. This is a great view that I didn’t see anyone else taking advantage of.

I’m in Berkeley now and I’m having a lot of fun at Inkhaven. It’s a little bit stressful but I’m trying to stay a day ahead (writing posts the day before I publish them) to give myself some slack. It’s really great being at the Lighthaven campus, it’s probably the best designed place I’ve ever been to. And the weather is pretty great here, at least compared to eastern Canada. Also, I tried coffee for the ~first time and it was a really fascinating experience.

On my way to Berkeley I stopped in SF for a bit to go to the local tpot meetup. It took me an hour to realize I accidentally went to a founder/VC meetup in the same venue instead; I was pretty confused why everyone kept asking me about my startup (I don't have one) but I had never been to an event in SF so I didn’t know what to expect.
