The Burning of Los Angeles
This month’s show tunes in to LA County Fire Department radio in the first moments of the Palisades fire outbreak.
Hello Listeners! It’s been an extremely long time since I last sent an email, but it’s a new year, so I thought it was time for a quick update.
First of all, thanks again for subscribing to this newsletter! I’ve (almost) stopped using social media over the past few years, but I’m still making new episodes of You Are Listening To on NTS Radio (almost) every month, and I’m glad that I can share them with you here.
This month’s show tunes in to LA County Fire Department radio in the first moments of the Palisades fire outbreak. It’s terrifying to hear just how quickly it grew from a 10-acre brush fire at 11am, to an out-of-control blaze just a few hours later.
It’s hard to know how to most effectively help out in situations like this, but if you’re able to provide support to any of the following organizations, I’m sure it will be put to good use:
- The California Fire Foundation provides resources to firefighters, fallen firefighters, their families, and the communities they serve.
- The LA Regional Food Bank is accepting donations for those in need of food assistance during the fires.
- World Central Kitchen is providing meals for first responders and impacted families.
The beautiful and calming music featured on this month’s show was:
- Danny Clay - No More Darkness, No More Night Part 5
- a beautiful burning world - Noise Complaint I
- Lunaria - Delta Wave Transmission
- Wil Bolton - The Forest Awakens
- Kevin Drumm - Gaslight Bill
- Windy & Carl - The Creation Of Venus
Thanks for listening, happy new year, and stay tuned for more ambient music and voices in 2025!
