Pause

Oops, looks like I forgot to write a newsletter yesterday. There goes my streak of Sunday newsletter releases.

I honestly thought today (Monday, April 19) was a Sunday, but I was wrong. It turns out that having no classes anymore has really screwed with my internal calendar.

Last week, I finished up classes (modulo the final exam for 539, and the camera-ready paper submission for 508). I can’t believe that I’m effectively done my course requirements for my grad degree. I sure hope I pass the oral exam for 539. I guess from now until the 30th of April (when things are really done), I’ll just review a little bit of program verification bit-by-bit and re-read the 508 paper.

I also had the most sketch ID verification process with the company I’ll be working with in the summer. They basically had me hold up my passport and flip through it a few times during a Google Meet. That job starts in June so I’ll save writing about that in a future newsletter.

Yesterday, I met up with a few peeps from the lab at Quilchena Park. I also biked there and forgot to put sunscreen on my arms. As a result, I got my first (and hopefully last) sunburn of the summer season. My arm would not look out of place in an advertisement for Neapolitan ice cream. We just hung around in the shade of some tall trees. Braxton brought us a picture book titled: The Composer is Dead by Lemony Snicket, and read it to us. That was honestly one of the highlights of my week.

That’s it for last week’s (this week’s?) newsletter. I’m gonna promise to myself to not forget to write this coming Sunday.

See you later!
