Glasgow and other glamorous locations
Happy August!
I intentionally buried a lede in my previous letter. Let me take the opposite tack in this message. Here's a quick preview of everything I want to tell you about:
- An exciting review of North Continent Ribbon
- More places to pre-order paperbacks
- An interview with me
- My Glasgow WorldCon schedule
- A red carpet photo (nerd edition)
- A red carpet photo (adorable feline edition).
Now, diving in:
North Continent Ribbon has a starred review in Publishers Weekly! This is a big deal in terms of grand old-fashioned publishing traditions and a very satisfying piece of validation from the anonymous reviewer.
Meanwhile, signs of the physical book are appearing in more places as August 20th approaches. You can now pre-order the paperback version of North Continent Ribbon from Barnes and Noble or Amazon as well as the publisher.
Last month, Rachel A. Rosen interviewed me for the Night Beats newsletter. Check out my attempt to cram a ton of writing thoughts into 500 words. There are even a few hints about future projects.
I'll be at WorldCon in Glasgow next week. I'm on a panel about making all the things, where I expect to talk about the joys of brioche knitting, drawing badly, medieval re-creation, the amazing treasures of my local library, and, of course, hair ribbons. I'm looking forward to catching up with friends of many vintages--say hi if you are at the con (and ask me about salamander bookmarks)!
In past convention adventures, there's a photo of me in the Nebulas spread in the August issue of Locus magazine. I'm wearing my favorite moth dress and looking extremely cheerful. (A still photo cannot capture the fascinating effect of Rachael K. Jones' sequined jumpsuit, which cast the most amazing sparkly shadows on the sun-baked California patio.)
Gennoveus, of course, is expert in locating sunbeams:
Yours very sincerely,
Ursula.
