a book with one page
O most sagacious newsletter subscribers,
Today I can direct you to a story! My novelette "The Fifteenth Saint" is in the May/June issue of Asimov's, which has become the current issue due to a bit of calendrical rounding.
"The Fifteenth Saint" is about a bureaucrat in his forties whose city is overtaken by a swirl of hostility to "expert systems". Emenev meets several of these systems. Most are tedious pattern-matchers, the sort of thing only a marketing department would call AI, but one is a book that will answer any question.
If you'd like to read more, you can buy an individual digital issue, subscribe for paper or print, or check the newsstand section of your local Barnes and Noble to see if they have a paper copy.
I'll try to pose a cat with my contributor's copy once it arrives. Until then, Kosmas will have to make do with a catnip noodle:
I can also promise future poetry: I recently signed a contract for the fairy-tale poem "Fine Print," which will be in Asimov's at some future date.
Yours,
Ursula.
