UFC Fight Night!

Wanted to share with all subscribers today. Here's the quick UFC preview.. Thanks for hanging around at least of the occasional unlocked newsletters!

The UFC is back.. and for abit now..like 9 weeks straight we will have cards to rattle off.

This week though.. we have to admit, the card as a whole is hilarious. Like did the matchmakers get toasted and just throw all 568 rostered fighters into a hat and draw names? What are we doing?

So obviously the main is the best fight on the card. KKF did his tongue thing at the face off and Albazi wasn't having any of it and growled or something.

Bruce LeeRoy getting some co-main shine. Jim Miller has had like three different opponents to prep for. They are totally timing him for UFC 300, then he probably takes the gloves off. (Only fighter that fought on UFC 100 & UFC 200) Tim Elliott with the wifey drama. Mullarkey will bring us a little prelim violence, and I swear Andrei Arlovski sleeps under the octagon or something. The dude is like Milton from Office Space. Arlovski's been showing up for these random fights all these years later. No wonder Mark Coleman is trying to make a return to fighting at 58. Collect those checks! Did I mention we also get the barn burner Jinh Yu Frey vs Elise Reed? Don't blink!

UFC Fight Night: Kara-France vs. Albazi

Saturday 6/3 live at 6PM ET

Broadcast: ESPN | Prelims: ESPN+

Live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada

Bouts: 13

Here's the rundown: (No novels on this one)

MAIN CARD:

Albazi defeats Kara-France

Probably on my own island. Big step up for Albazi for sure, but he's looked solid on this UFC run where he's won four straight, three by finish. KKF is just 4-3 over his last seven fights, most recently off the KO loss to Brandon Moreno. Sure he's fought much better opponents and can crack, but I think Albazi is live here for an upset. He's a hittable guy, but is good for some takedowns as he closes, and is always looking to finish versus winning rounds. Albazi with an 87% finish rate across his 16 victories. I'll pass betting a side on this one, but I'll be in some for the under.

Caceres defeats Pineda

Pineda is a fast starter and thrives when he can take control early. He struggles against the longer guys that can keep control of the distance. That's Bruce Leeroy for you here at featherweight. The only way Leeroy loses this one is via some sneaky submission, but you'd have to think he's going to wear down Pineda. If he can stay at bay and fight smart early, the latter half of the fight should be all Bruce Leeroy. Pineda is a kill or be killed fighter for sure though, with just 5 of his 45 fights going the distance, so i'd be cautious betting a total on this one.

Miller defeats Butler

This is the largest experience gap in UFC history at 41 fights. Jim Miller has had to reset three times with opponents falling out and now will face newcomer Jesse Butler. Butler is 12-4 and considered the #1 FW in Louisiana if that means anything. He's won five straight but obviously against much lower level opponents. I suspect Miller will fight safe, look for a takedown and look to lock something in. Props are beginning to pop up and Miller via SUB at +210 has my eye. Even in the Apex, the lights are bright for short notice, debuting fighters.

Elliott defeats Altamirano

I like this Altamirano kid, I've posted pics of him and I after his beatdown of Daniel de Silva, but tough matchup here. Elliott coming in uber motivated and his wrestling will be the ticket. Altamirano likes to pepper his opponents (6.15 SLpM) and can do the same against Elliott, but I just see him getting taken down and neutralized, while Elliott wins some rounds with control. Elliott 29-28 type DEC is probably the outcome.

Silva defeats Souza

Souza another fighter making their UFC debut Saturday night and will look across at Karine "Killer" Silva, who has 15 wins and all by finish. Silva is a quick starter and has had success finishing fights early to the tune of 13 fights wrapped in the very first round. This includes her most recent victory, an first round submission vs Poliana Botelho, a seven fight UFC vet. Souza won't be as fast, and actually brings much less volume, but can crack for the division herself. She's been finished though in all three of her losses and coincidentally, two of those also in the first round.

Zaleski defeats Nurmagomedov

Can't trust either of these guys but I give Zaleski the edge. Big layoff after getting popped (pending tainted supplement), but he's definitely the more dynamic fighter. Zaleski has fought much tougher opponents and Nurmagomedov has been a tad inconsistent, getting finished in all three of his losses. Zaleski will have the edge on the feet, and if he gets taken down, he has that black belt himself and can get to work. Too many unknowns though here with that suspension, but I like Zaleski. I'll be taking some notes.

Boxing wise..

Claressa gonna smash.

I'm going to take a shot on Teofimo at +150. Taylor is solid, but if the Teofimo that beat Loma is back, we are cashing tickets. Money messes with people and I think after Lopez had that huge win he lost himself abit. Humbled, plus that last split I would think should have him dialed back in. Decent price IMO all things considered.
