V. Gagnon - Newsletter July 2023
Wyrm Chatter - July 2023
Hello! I hope you all are keeping cool this summer!
Current Projects
Two major updates since I last touched base! First off, we hit a huge milestone with my current graphic novel project and there will definitely be a lot more news coming soon about that!
Secondly, I had the amazing pleasure of working alongside The Washi Station to create not 1, not 2, but 3 designs for their incredible Pride collection! My three designs are Pride Parade, Mascaron, and Rebis. I encourage you all to check out the whole collection! Everyone made such beautiful tapes and stationery!

Personal Updates
As for personal updates! I'll probably be starting a slew of small projects as this graphic novel wraps up so hopefully next time I email there will be more images to share!
What I'm Reading/Watching/Playing
Books - I am currently chipping my way through the new Penguin Classics version of Ovid's Metamorphoses, translated by Stephanie McCarter. Listening to these short stories have really inspired me to rethink how I picture Ancient Greece and Rome aesthetically. Eventually I'd love to do some monster and god designs that pull from Bronze Age Aegean art! I also read and enjoyed It Came from the Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror, edited by Joe Vallese. I'm a sucker horror in general but I love intersections and analysis of queerness and the horror genre! I particularly enjoyed “Indescribable” by Carrow Narby (on The Blob) & “Loving Annie Hayworth” by Laura Maw (on The Birds).
Movies/TV/Videos - I am notoriously bad at watching movies and TV (I have the attention span of a gnat) but I did recently watch Nimona (2023)! I am so glad the project made it to release!
Art - Lately I've been looking at the wonderful works of Thomas Lee, Peter Ferguson, and Kosuke Ajiro.
