World Humanist Forum - First Assembly (ENG)

First Assembly and next steps

We are pleased to receive you at the World Humanist Forum (WHF), all of you who participated in its first Assembly on January 25, and all of you who for any reason were unable to attend. There were about 160 participants from all continents of the world, who shared views from different cultures on a variety of topics of common interest. They also started setting up modalities of work to give continuity to this process, through the Thematic Tables.

Although we acknowledged that we faced some glitches with translations, finding the correct meeting room for the Thematic Table of our choice, etc., we received feedback that overall the people were impressed by the efficacy of the proposed work modality, the ad-hoc coordination in the break-out rooms including consecutive translations, and the production of short summaries to be shared at the final plenary session.

At the moment we are completing some work at the Forum Secretariat, to be able to establish fluid contact with all Thematic Areas, including new ones to be created. This will include contact details of participants, an archive containing reference material, and a dedicated page on the website for each Thematic Table. The communication channels will include a newsletter, of which you are reading the first version.

We hope you keep sharing all your work experiences from your Thematic Tables and beyond, observations and suggestions for the best results.

In the meantime, we send you our best wishes.

Thank you,

Summary of Thematic Table Discussions

We had 14 tables who presented summaries of their discussions when we got back to the plenary at the end of the Assembly. A lot was said – so much that it turned out to be impossible to transcribe from the zoom recording. If any Table wants to share a written version of the summary of the discussion, please do so at info@worldhumanistforum.org

As an example, we are sharing the summary of the first fortnightly meeting of the Table of Psychosocial and Spiritual Revolutions: please check it on the website here: https://worldhumanistforum.org/1064-2/
