making better decisions - 15. Feedback from others on your decision-making progress
Dealing with Difficult People
This email is one in a series on decision-making. The first one is an introduction to the series.
15. Feedback from others on your decision-making progress
It has been said that a camel is a horse designed by a committee. And yet, in the process of reaching a decision, it can be helpful to have feedback from other people.
What is the best way to incorporate this feedback from others into your process?
Here are some considerations: for each of these steps, think about whether you want to hear from a single person, a small group, or a larger group of people.
you could explain your decision-making process and ask for feedback on the process itself.
you could look at one step of the process; e.g. further input on a SWOT analysis,
you could for additional decision options to then re-incorporate into your decision
you could create a survey that would help prioritise options, or ask for their decision-making criteria
you could set up a set of online ads, each with a different headline, to see which ad (and hence which headline) performs better across a specified audience
Sometimes working with other people who are familiar with the decision can be helpful, while at other times, fresh insights from someone who is not familiar with the decision space can enrich your thinking.
