WoT News #7
Dear WoT reader,
Words of Type is now running its course. The encyclopedia is (slowly but surely) going forward with improvements, WIP with the languages currently in there, WIP with more illustrations, etc., etc.
Again and always, if you have any comments about what you see in the encyclopedia, feel free to share your thoughts by email, or directly in the WoT community platform so that everyone else can follow-up what’s going on about each word. If you don’t know what I’m talking about with the community, it means you may not be a member yet. So, maybe consider getting a membership to join us? It’s one way to support the project (among many others 😊).
Now, here is a list of upcoming events:

CONFERENCE
I have been selected to talk at ATypI 2025 in Copenhagen! 🙈 I will talk about the project at large, how it started, how I built the project, and some (interesting?) BTS stuff. I know it is a pricey event but if you get the chance (and money 🙊) to attend, you’ll hear me blah-blah-blah-ing about WoT! And many many more very interesting talks too!
EDUCATION
Since this January, I’ve got to collaborate with SILICON / Stanford University and Letterform Archive to build a short program starting this summer to teach type design to people interested in digitally underserved scripts and/or “delatinize” Latin scripts used across the world. It will be a free program, fully supported by companies and the university.
Applications are now closed. We are still sorting out the 15 participants. If you are waiting for news, please keep patience!
WoT is part of the planning team and will host the non-Latin groups. It’s a pilot edition, and we hope that it will be a blast, and that more and better editions will come soon!
Each month I try to keep things simple and short so this newsletter doesn’t feel like a “news-article.”
But as you see, there are always many things to share, and I’m always super excited!
Let me know if there are any lecture or workshop topics that you’ll love to attend!
Thanks for reading, following, supporting, everything 💖
