I. Progress on the encyclopedia
The launch of the website has been postponed so many times. But the end of the tunnel is near this time. For real.
And there is a very good reason for that.
I have been invited to give a lecture at Face/Interface conference in January next year!
I’ll talk about Words of Type, the encyclopedia, its story, progress, and present its first (soft) launch! 🥳🤩😱🫣🫠😬🫨🤪 (exhaustive list of my inner emotions these days)
Face/Interface is an annual conference organized by SILICON at Stanford University. It’s an international event bringing together scholars, designers, engineers, and technologists to explore global type design, book design, interface design, and human-computer interaction.
It’s free, for both in-person and online attendees. So quickly book yours!

The community is also a place where I invite members to mention any mistakes or typos that they may have spotted, or give suggestions for improvements (next languages to join, next words, etc.). It’s also great that the comments and discussions are available for all members to see and trace, to keep track on what is ongoing, what has been said, solved, how, etc.

V. Lectures & Workshops
Greek typography with Irene Vlachou - Since there were not enough participants registered to her workshop (originally planned for November / December), we had to postpone her events to March / April 2025, with TWO sessions for you to pick. New dates are to be found here.
Conversations Ep. 2 - We are going to talk about learning and teaching typography. There will be Cara di Edwardo (Type@Cooper, Cooper Union, NYC), Jean-Baptiste Levée (Production Type, France), Indra Kupferschmid (HBKSaar, Germany), Zhiqian Li (3type, China), and Gen Ramirez (Type@Cooper and DualType).
