WoT News #13

Encyclopedia
Improvements are always in progress with the descriptions and translations of WoT Encyclopedia.
Lately, with the help and contribution of Rosalie Wagner, we’ve updated the descriptions (in English and French for now) of several terms related to font engineering, such as Bounding Box, OpenType Features, Export, and so on.
A new chapter whenever it makes sense has been added to some of these terms: Font Engineering Advice or Hint for those who want to get more information on this aspect 🛠️.

You can check the progress of our Encyclopedia here.
And our roadmap here!

Your help can be precious 💎
We are always looking for people to collaborate with us on the current translations and proofreaders to improve the project.
And to collect enough funding to work with such collaborators, we are also continuously looking for sponsors to support each task or the project in general 💪.
If you have any question or interest for these, please contact us via email!

Help the community
Type foundries and companies can also sponsor tickets to events planned at WoT, so that selected students can join for free! We’ll gladly communicate about your support on our socials and during the events, and you get to help some students who wouldn’t afford the lectures or workshops otherwise 💖
Ask us about the future events if you’re interested!

Cinema & StereoType (lecture), with Aaron Levin
Jan 31, 2026 — 2 pm to 3:30 pm CET
On typography in the world of cinema.
As the cinema spread its wings and developed into a multitude of genres, lettering and type accompanied and supported this creative dawning of a new art, with their own set of genre-defining styles. Through movie posters, titles, title-cards, opening sequences, closing credits and final “The End” masterpieces, we will explore how this artform uses the letterform to perform and sometimes transform.
There is still time to get your ticket!!
