1. Introduction to Cyrillic (2-session workshop), with Maria Doreuli & Krista Radoeva
October 11 & 18, 2025
Maria is a type designer and the founder of Contrast Foundry, a typeface design studio based in San Francisco.
Krista is an independent typeface designer, based in Sofia, Bulgaria, specializing in Latin, Cyrillic and Greek scripts.

2. Moving type beyong expression (lecture), with Maurice Meilleur.
October 25, 2025
Maurice Meilleur is a recovering political theorist turned graphic designer and design researcher and writer. He completed his MFA in graphic design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2015. He’s an assistant professor of graphic design at Iowa State University, where he teaches typography, computational design, design ethics and theory.

5. Updates on next events
The events mentioned in this newsletter will be the last ones of the year. But we are already planning a lot more for 2026, with a format following “one month, one script” for type design lectures and workshops, and occasional surprise guests!
If you have any interest in a particular script that you wish to learn about with us, feel free to drop us an email about it, and we’ll try to make it happen!

6. Updates on WoT Encyclopedia
We are working on a few major updates with the texts and descriptions, thanks to new edits on the English texts by ⭐Rosalie Wagner and Dan Reynolds⭐.
There will also be a roadmap page to be added in the website so you get to see what we are cooking, and what are on our to-do list. Members will be invited to vote on which part of the roadmap they wish to see happen sooner than planned (words, languages, etc.), and companies can sponsor WoT with more precise goals to keep things moving!
These shall happen between early to mid 2026.

7. New website for WoT Platform
An improved version of the events platform is in progress. There will be more features and pages than the current version. You will be among the first ones to see some sneak peaks 👀
We will probably need some people to test the beta version and give us some feedback. If you are up to volunteer, let us know! Your help will be precious to build an even nicer website! 💖

8. WE NEED YOU
We always need help to get going. There are many options to contribute:
- membership if you’re an individual;
- sponsorship if you’re a type foundry;
- partnership (to sponsor our events) if you’re a company or type foundry;
- donations too!
