Happy Hick Pix Day! On this day in 1935 Variety Magazine published one of the most famous headlines of all time. One can imagine that today’s New York Times’ “Rural Communities Are Rejecting Movies Made in Their Image. Here’s Why That’s Bad News for Joe Biden” would not be as memorable.

We may not have the same panache with headlines here at the Wooden Block Labyrinth, but we hope that we’re producing articles that amuse you just the same. Here’s what we’ve cooked up in the past week…

What We’re Watching…

With the return of thunderstorms to the area, we’re glad to bring back some of our rainy-day favorites to the media rotation. MacGyver remains as gleefully grounded yet implausible as it was in the eighties; “Countdown” is a roaring good time of bad exposition and great puzzles. And if you need something that feels like it comes from an alternate dimension, track down the first season of the Bill and Ted cartoon where Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves voice their title characters alongside George Carlin as Rufus. If Carlin could do it, then what was the excuse of the Ghostbusters or Daniel-San or three-quarters of the cast of Back to the Future?
