building blocks (poem)

wonder systems

waking up with eight boxes of IKEA shelves outside the door
is like getting LEGOs at christmas, no time to wait or eat
rip it apart, put it together

become late, jump on a bike
bike to
the wrong Cutter
(St., meant Ave.)
correct this
car to Pond,
Walden

sun

picnic

swim
across

(walk back)
(drive out)
(bike home)
in a sun-induced stupor

to planning
of apple icecream and making breakfast
teaching scrambled eggs
housecleaning
and dining room setup

snapping together
the building blocks
of home

the instruction list got
left in the box which
I think might have gotten thrown out already
but never mind, just grab a handful of colors
and play
