WICCA News and Events
Hi there!
We hope you all are safe and healthy and still hanging in there! <3
Let’s start with some very exciting news!
New WICCA Team member
Faith Opiyo has officially joined the WICCA admin team. She has been a loyal member of the group and has been helping us with suggestions and getting speakers for a long time.
We are very excited to add her to the team and are looking forward to making WICCA more awesome with her.
As a Threat Hunter at IBM, she helps customers reduce impact caused by advanced attackers to their organization by proactively looking for signs of intrusion within the network, analyzing and advising on how to combat them. Besides work and volunteering, she enjoys running, reading and travelling.
Next Meetup: Industrial Control Systems with Accenture
Our next meetup on the 21st of April is on Industrial Control System security with multinational consulting company Accenture.
Industrial Control System (ICS) networks or OT environments are key in various industries, such as the products, resources and utility industries.
ICS technology is essential for the provisioning of vital infrastructure services like energy and water management.
How can these networks be secured properly? Let Accenture experts share their insights on ICS Security.

WICCA Summer School
This is something we wanted to do for quite a while. The WICCA Summer School will be a 6-week program between July 15 and August 19 with two-hour lessons once a week to explain ALL THINGS corporate cyber security (so we won’t be getting into police and military stuff, that’s what we mean by corporate). The goal of this all-round program is to tell security enthusiasts exactly what they’re getting into should they choose a career in cyber security and teach concepts, principles, methodology related to cyber security.
As is our philosophy, the Summer School will essentially be free. However, we will use a pay-what-you-want system, which is the occasion for us to collect donations. It’s simple math: the more we get, the more we can do. WICCA meetups will always be free, but we can turn donations into awesomeness for the community.
Stay safe! Should you need anything we can provide, don’t hesitate to drop us a mail.
Kind regards / Met vriendelijke groet,
Valentine + Chantal + Faith
