UH OH: It’s Been A While
Hello there… life got pretty chaotic back there! Much has happened in my personal, professional, & creative life. I’ve tabled at five events selling zines, held writing clubs, hosted a 4/13 party, become Too Important at work, got obnoxiously back into Homestuck, & made a Lot of art. I almost forgot this newsletter existed. Almost! But here we are. I hope to manage my interests & activities much more effectively & kindly moving forward. Especially since recent events have caused me to lapse back into some Twitter usage (mostly for the understandable reason of connecting with the few friends that linger there). I have big plans for stuff ranging from videos to zines to other projects so get excited/scared!
NEW STUFF: The Latest from Yours Truly
** Since we last spoke, I have created several new minizines! From the ‘Zine Fest Diaries: GNV Zine Fest’ to an attempt at another daily zine month challenge of April Zines wherein I only managed to complete 10 zines. Highlights include ‘The Fool’ about April Fools woes, ‘Wild Horses Printer Souls’ about a bad comparison & the love of printers, ‘Make Bad Art’ about the joys & pitfalls of making bad art, & ‘Zines from the Wasteland’ a game about mailing zines crafted to explain surreal worlds.
** I launched my podcast Sburban Spectators! This is a Homestuck book club podcast following the comic from my POV as a Homestuck veteran who started at the malleable age of 13 with my novice co-host starting in their late 20s. We have 4 episodes going through Acts 1 & 2 plus a bonus episode for April Fools comparing The Boss Baby (2017) & Mac and Me (1988). Go listen! We also have a Patreon where you can support us & get fun exclusive zines & more.
** I have a new ambitious project for my Homestuck fantrolls based on the Cthulhu Mythos Outer Gods that will manifest either as a full comic or a video to be released on 20 August 2025. Look out for it! Glimpse project updates & fantroll posting on my side tumblr: mythoslain.tumblr.com.
** For the above project, I’ve also sprited all 36 characters in the traditional style (12 of which were freshly designed), designed all 24 ancestors, designed 4 exiles & 2 First Guardians, done a bunch of outlining, made 6 troll call profiles, & more… Here’s a preview of the First Guardian sprites I’m really proud of:
** I also got my first Homestuck tattoo! The light god tier symbol on my left wrist gotten on a semi-whim on Easter Sunday to cope with the horrors. It’s what I fancy as my aspect despite years of thinking I was a mind player (I was always a Mage though, no question about it).
