** April 25 [1pm-7pm] Goblin Market April at the Oviedo Mall in Orlando, FL - it’s been a while, but I’ll most likely be back at Goblin with zine spirits!

** June 6 [11am-5pm] Duval Comic and Zine (DCAZ) Festival at CoRK Arts District in Jacksonville, FL - delighted to say I’ve been accepted back to the amazing event I attended last year & ran my first Trolldeer kicking poll at after it came to me in a dream!

APRIL ZINES: Take 2 on a failed Zine Challenge

I may have totally failed to keep up last year’s attempt (for understandable reasons), but I’ve managed already to surpass that effort with 16 whole daily zines & no breaks! I wasn’t able to get one zine done fully the actual day (only most of it) & one was posted shortly after midnight into the next day, but I still count all such efforts towards my challenge. I’ve been posting full scans of the printed versions of each zine on Instagram to be read with the printable version of each zine posted on the site calendar here. The only exception is day 7 as it was a traditional zine made at the month’s Orlando Zine Meet that would be too hard to make copies of for a number of reasons.

I’m quite happy with the zines I’ve made so far! I’m not sure which will end up in my rotation/stock of tabling zines just yet. Some I might want to refine a bit more before having up for event sale. My last year’s April Zine attempt yielded 4 zines (from my first 4 days) that I have at events while my Zinetober 2024 gave me 5 zines now in the regular rotation with 2 sometimes in the discount bin & a few of the others ending up in mystery bags sometimes. I can never predict what zines end up appealing the most to people (if anyone has specific thoughts on ones I should print & offer let me know), but contenders include the rat lore AMVs zine, my Deaths’ Defiance zines, the Homestuck 4/13 zine, the 17776 zine, & the Mythoslain OC ones (HanGeb & Temjin). My Mythoslain zines don’t sell well at all, but some people get really excited about them & give me so much power in turn!

In writing this newsletter, I thought to sit down to try to quickly tally how many zines I think I’ve made thus far, & from what I can access in my records, including zines I made for myself & never posted, I’ve made somewhere in the range of 116 minizines, 14 larger zines, 6 additional Cursebearer Confidential original version zines, & 2 tabletop games printed in zine format. That’s around 138 zines & probably even more than that with those I have a part time tracking. Not all of these I offer for sale or viewing, of course.

NEW STUFF: The Latest from Yours Truly

Other new things: new minizine earrings/necklaces (featuring the Sims 2, Don’t, Bad Art, & Pathologic 3 zines), Mythoslain cover poster (discussed in next section), and Pathologic stickers (tragedian, shmowder, Bachelor, & Haruspex - coming soon is the Changeling, Eva Yan, & Anna Angel).

MYTHOSLAIN: Fresh new Look!

After a needed hiatus from updates, I updated my comic on March 15 (the Ides of March & date of HPL’s death, the ideal Doom Day of Mythoslain) & shortly after updated the cover art to reflect my new art style I will be using for the comic moving forward! I have leveled up a GREAT deal over my time working on the comic, so it was only natural I branch out into a style that reflected this & introduced fewer limitations to what I can depict that the more faithful style struggled with. I also experimented in style a lot more for my most recent update posted earlier this week & I feel great about how far I’ve come with the comic as I approach the day that serves as the anniversary of when I started working on making the comic a thing by starting the cast’s proper sprites. I hope to write a news post for this occasion on the actual day (April 20th) & hopefully also update, but who knows if that’s feasible. I try though!
