Initial commit to Astro by Matthew Phillips, March 15, 2021

Huge thanks to Fred, who previously held this role and helped guide the project to what it is today. Itโ€™s a big shift, and Iโ€™m grateful for the trust to carry it forward.

Iโ€™m looking forward to continuing to work with all of you, this community is what makes Astro great, and thatโ€™s not changing. If you have questions, feel free to ping me any time.

The Top 10

Hereโ€™s what caught our attention this month:

  1. [Article] Astro core maintainer Matthew Phillips shares how we built a software factory to drive Astroโ€™s GitHub issue count to zero.

  2. [Tool] astro-seo-audit by @namanlabc lets you score Astro SEO after every build with whole-site and single-page audits, regression gates, an interactive HTML dashboard, and SARIF.

  3. [Article] TinaCMS now uses Astro by default for their starter templates, so Harky migrated. See how they did it, and what they gained.

  4. [Video] Hear 3 reasons why Astro is the fastest framework in 2026 from Finn Dollimore.

  5. [Article] Flavio Copes explains How Astro is built, following one page from its .astro file to the final HTML in dist.

  6. [Tool] - astro-svg-lens by @noah4520 is an Astro Dev Toolbar app for previewing and copying SVG asset imports.

  7. [Article] Kate Bartolo experiments with rendering remote content in Astro using React components, then built astro-mdx-remote to let you render remote MDX content in Astro with server-rendered, interactive React islands.

  8. [Tool] at-astro by @chrisvander is an Astro integration for the AT Protocol, implementing OAuth flow and publishing an authenticated client to fetch and mutate records.

  9. [Video] Christos Soulaki presents Astro for Webflow developers (from start to deploy) to help move from one mental model to another.

  10. [Tool] starlight-to-skills by @Hideoo turns Starlight documentation pages into reviewed, discoverable, and up-to-date agent skills.

  11. [Bonus: ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš€] Have you ever wanted to write an Astro component without making a whole new project? Try the new Astro Playground from Astro maintainer Emanuele Stoppa.

Under the hood, every playground session spins up its own real Astro Compiler instance in a Dynamic Worker, so what you see is exactly what you'd get locally. Built with Svelte for the UI.

The Astro playground showing Astro code on one side of the screen, then the other half shows tabbed panels were you can view the rendered content, JS, CSS, and more.
