The full manuscript is back from the editor! Only a measly.... checks notes.... 6,045 edits.
Google Docs can't manage the 30mb .docx file that my editor sent me so I spent most of today trying to figure out the best tool to work on the document. Open office? LibreOffice? Pay for Microsoft Word?
I'm still not 100% sure, but it looks like Apple Pages might be the best option!
Good News / Bad News
Ok the bad news first. My editor really tore apart the opening of the book:
"When I first dove into the book, I’ll be honest—I struggled. It seemed you were speaking in riddles, partly because you assume so much pre-existing knowledge and experience on the part of your reader"
Actually... This isn't so bad, I think I agree! It's not so much that the opening of the book is bad, it's just missing a bunch of setup.
The good news is that there aren't many structural changes needed! The three act structure that I worked through with Tim Cassola seems like it's working. The only question mark right now is whether to put the map with the five phases at the beginning of the book or the end of the book.
Hmm. I think I'm leaning towards the end of the book? It scaffolds the topics nicely and gives some good fodder for folks just starting out...
