Moving forward. . .
It’s all happening.
Dear Reader,
Well, it's about that time again. What time is that you might ask? Time for me to once again step away from social media. In my case, that means instagram. Why do I feel that it's time? Well, as a person who almost solely leads with her emotions, I just know. It's not like I spend a lot of time on instagram, especially lately. I set a timer for one hour per day. But, as we all know, social media can be very insidious. I feel like I’ve been ignoring the timer too often lately, which is a telltale sign that it’s time to step away. What are the main reasons I'm leaving?
- The frustrating algorithm
I have a business account, so when I share photos, my intent is to advertise my business. This has become increasingly difficult, usually resulting in me becoming very frustrated or just not bothering at all. Long story short, this situation is affecting me emotionally and causing me stress, so that means that it's time to step away.
- Overstimulation
With the constant fear of impending doom in our imploding country and so much hatred that it literally hurts my heart, I feel that I am overwhelmed with information and anxiety.
- The need to try and find a way to connect with folks outside of social media
Although the reality of this is daunting, mostly because it seems like it will take so much more time and effort, I am intrigued by the process. It feels more real and connected, and I like that.
How long will I be away?
I'm not exactly sure. For now, I plan on exploring this new chapter and seeing what happens. Like most things in my life, I'll see how it feels and go from there.
So, Where does that leave me?
Well, ideally I would love to have this newsletter and real life community connections be the main ways that I put information out into and interact with the world. Right now I don't have a ton of subscribers, but hopefully, if that changes over time, I will be able to justify upgrading to a paid tier so my subscribers will be able to comment. It would be nice to have more of an interactive dialogue here on this platform.
Until then, if you would like to reach out to me, please feel free to email me.

What was I up to this week?
- Since I made a lot of clothes last week, this week I focused more on accessories and artwork. Specifically, I made a bunch of sew-on patches and some small artwork for your wall, both of which I plan to list in my online shop this week.
- I did a show in Washington Crossing, PA on Saturday and met some lovely people and dogs. The weather did not cooperate though, and it poured for most of the show. All of my clothes get wet, so I spent Sunday taking inventory and drying everything.
- My family and I did manage to head out to our local Indian restaurant for the lunch buffet for Father's Day and watch Indian Jones and the Last Crusade in the theater.
What will I be working on this week?
- This week I will focus on finishing up some artwork pieces that I will have for sale at River Pearl Studio in Marietta next month. I also have a bunch of clothing, accessories, and jewelry there too.
- I will also be working on pieces for several different gallery submissions as well.
- And, if the sun comes out I will be taking a bunch of photos and listing new things in the online shop.
- Researching ways to exist outside of social media.
I'm grateful to everyone who reads this newsletter. I'd like to offer all of you an anytime 20% off discount in the online shop.
