I like the idea of a nomadic life.

It’s all happening.

Dear Reader,

Do you vend at art shows? Do you have a family member or friend who does? If any or all of these things are true for you, then you know that it's hard work. I've been doing art shows for over twenty years, and since I'm basically a nomad by nature, I could never imagine a 9-5 job or owning my own store. The thought of doing the same thing and going to the same place day in and day out has never appealed to me, so my store is portable.

Would I live in a camper, travel around and do art shows throughout the country? Yes, you bet I would. I know how difficult this is, but even so, it still appeals to me way more than doing something that the majority of the population would find much easier. Technically, hauling things into my van and out of my van, setting up, tearing down, dealing with weather conditions and many other things is literally more difficult, but still, it works for me.

Does the weather suck sometimes? Yes, it sure does. Even though I prefer to be outside, on a beautiful day at a market, being outside when that's not the case, can be a pretty horrible experience. I've been at shows where it rained the entire time, and even though I had all of the walls up on the tent, my things still got wet. I've had my clothing racks crash to the ground, getting mud on my clothes, and in some cases even ruining them. I've even had racks that were weighted down with multiple cinder blocks fall over due to high winds. But still, I wouldn't trade it for a "regular" job.

The weather's getting warm and it's that time of year again. The open road is calling and I'm ready.

I hope you have a great week dear reader.

xo, Christa
