2026 Israeli legislative election
Legislative elections were held in Israel on 27 October 2026 to elect all 120 members of the 26th Knesset and determine the governing coalition that succeeds the 37th government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Why the popularity?
  • Israelis voted in an election widely seen as a referendum on Benjamin Netanyahu, and exit polls showed no clear winner.
  • Turnout hit 77.7%, the highest in more than two decades, according to Israel's Central Elections Committee.
  • It was the first election since the 7 October attacks, and about 330,000 young Israelis got to vote for the first time.
  • Both the pro- and anti-Netanyahu camps have ruled out teaming up with Arab-led parties, so building a coalition looks tricky.
