Hi lovelies, I missed you all 💓 hopefully this is the last time I'll feel obligated to start out an email with “apologies for the radio silence” or something in that vein. It's continued to be a Weird Friggin Time™️ over here, and things ain't picture-perfect, but overall this summer breathed a lot of life back into me — helped me make some pretty big inroads in recovering from the absolutely monstrous burnout that I've alluded to before. I've been to so many open mics, learned a few new Claribel songs, met even more phenomenal people in the Chicago music scene… truly, in a lot of senses, my cup runneth over.

Today, though, I'm writing this update from the back of an Uber en route to O’Hare, because once again ya girl is headed to London! And this time I'm doing something I've never ever done before…

Drumroll…

I'm recording an album!! Of Claribel's music!!! In collaboration with the eternal badass/MVP Patricia Hammond, because we've talked about wanting to do a Claribel album together pretty much since we first met, I think. She’s also marshaled a couple other badass musician friends of hers for a few tracks, so it's going to be a real party and I'm beyond excited.

We’ll be recording at Hackney Road Studios in London on September 18 and 19. I get to play what I'm pretty sure will remain among the top 5 most glorious pianos I've ever played, even when I'm pushing 100: a 1905 Blüthner grand. No, I'm not kidding. I'm definitely going to faint and/or cry at some point. It's fine. (If you want to hear how the piano sounds, go look up the album Alone in Luna Park by Jaz DeLorean. Keep hold of your jaw.)

I've got a few more plans for this trip, which I'll elaborate on in due time. For the moment, though, I promise to do my level best to update all y'all on how this new adventure goes ❤️ In the meantime, I'll probably be posting more real-time updates over on Instagram, so head over to @klahom_ if you're interested in that. Talk soon, mes chers!!
