What's on Tap RI: Jul 3–5

Happy Independence Day weekend, neighbors. Rhode Island came to this holiday early — we renounced the Crown on May 4, 1776, a full two months before the rest of the colonies caught up — so consider the long weekend ours by seniority. Here's where the beer, bands, and BBQ are.

🇺🇸 Independence Day, the Rhode Island way. Feels right to launch this here — little Rhody was the first colony to tell the Crown to pound sand. So in that spirit, we're declaring independence from weekend FOMO. Meet The Big Board: every open brewery in Rhode Island, all in one place — search by brewery, town, band, or food truck, and never miss a pour again. → See the Big Board

⭐ If you only pick one: Pivotal Brewing — Bristol throws America's oldest Fourth of July party, and this year it's the country's 250th. Pivotal is the base camp: BBQ and a Dave Matthews trio before Friday's fireworks, then an after-party when Saturday's parade wraps.

Pivotal Brewing — Bristol

Best 4th of July HQ • Music ✓ • Food ✓

Fri: Red, White & BBQ 250 — Music — DMB Acoustic Trio, 5:30–8:30 • Food — Mr Tito BBQ on the patio, 2–8 • before the Bristol fireworks
Sat: Parade after-party — Music — Brianna White, 1–4 • Food — BBQ on the patio, 12–8

Why go: The country turns 250 in the town that's been celebrating longest — and this is the beer garden closest to the action, both days.

Moniker Brewery — Providence

Best Friday move • Music ✓ • Food ✓

Fri: July First Friday, 4–8 — live music • raw bar • BBQ • sweets • flowers

Why go: Oysters and a lager in the West Side beer garden is a strong way to start a long weekend.

Tower Hill Brewing — South Kingstown

Best low-key 4th • Music ✓

Sat: Music — Lee Phillips, 5–8

Why go: Decades of covers from blues to '80s rock — an easy South County landing spot between the beach and the fireworks.

Taproot Brewing — Middletown

Best Sunday reset • Music ✓ • Food ✓

Sun: Music on the tank patio, 1–4 • Food — walk-up stations + charcuterie cart • farm brunch until 1

Why go: Ease out of the long weekend with a set on the patio and something from the charcuterie cart.

Ragged Island Brewing — Portsmouth

Best all-weekend farm hang • Music ✓ • Food ✓

Fri: Music — Lauren King, 5:30–8:30 • Food — Teddi's, 4–8
Sat: Food — Tolia, 1–8
Sun: Food — W's Wood Fire Pizza, 1–7

Why go: The farm runs food all three days if you need a reliable holiday-weekend default — and circle July 12 for the next free Block Party.
