Street Trash pick up / Marshmallow roast Feb 18 Wendy Olson Arboretum
The Wendy Olson Arboretum, Inc.
Hello Neighbors,
Thank you for signing up and welcome to the first edition of our newsletter! Thanks to all who came out for the January Street clean up and hot cider/bonfire at the Arboretum! We had between 40-60 neighbors and children turn out for one or both-it was lovely to see you all!
We are hoping to host at least one event per month and volunteer opportunities continuously. If you are interested in either please email me!
Our next event is Sunday February 18. The street clean up will start around 2:00 at the corner of Lakeshore Drive/Forrest Street. The town is offering to loan vests, gloves and grabbers and will pick up the bags of trash along the road the following day. Please let me know if you want to partici
pate in the cleanup so i can tell them how many items we want to borrow.Around 3:30 to 4:00, you can start heading over to the arboretum for "How to Build a Campfire" led by our stonemason/trail-builder Brooks Burleson. Brooks has done the lion's share of work on the grounds and is a highly seasoned woodsman. He will lead a tour of kids and adults through the arboretum showing how to properly select kindling and logs based on how you want to build and how fast or slow you want the fire to burn. Then we will roast marshmallows!
We do not have restroom facilities on the property yet so please keep that in mind.
Again, please let me know if you plan to attend to make sure we have enough vests and marshmallows!
Kind Regards,
Vanessa
