Arboretum is Open For BEESWAX! Can you HELP mulch near creek?

The Wendy Olson Arboretum, Inc.

Howdy Neighbors,

We are pleased to announce that we are ready to reopen the arboretum for visitors and tours. After Lots of fallen tree removal and trail rebuilding we would like to welcome you all back just in time for summer’s end. Leaves have already begun to fall and we have lots of little and BIG mushrooms popping up along the strolling paths. We could USE YOUR HELP with the little patch near the creek edge. These need to be hand filled with wheelbarrows since machines cannot reach. Please reply to this email if you can come out and help!?

Next time you visit please notice he cardinal flowers we planted along the creek bank last year. They are beginning to flower! The butterflies and the hummingbirds are enjoying them so much! As you may know, hummingbirds are pollinators too! It is best to offer them native plants rather than sugar water from feeders. If the feeders are not cleaned properly they will grow bacteria infecting the hummingbirds darling beaks indefinitely! In addition, they will become addicted to sugar water and ignore the healthier native plant nectar, which means they will not do the job of pollinating. Just another great reason to PLANT NATIVE!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Kind regards,

Vanessa
