That makes him pause. A slight shift, barely perceptible, but Taeyong seems to catch it. It’s weird. Taeyong was always weirdly interested in him and Johnny.
“Huh,” Ten muses, gaze still fixed on the sea. “I suppose not.”
A step closer, barely brushing shoulders. “He said you guys were old friends.”
A short laugh, low and humourless. It was entirely expected of Johnny to say something like this. Johnny would rather lie than be honest, “Maybe we are, maybe we aren’t.”
(Or, alternatively, Ten's apartment burns down and he is forced to move back in with Johnny)

“Sure.”
Johnny approached him and then reached down to take the chair he’d been sitting in. He picked it up and carried it one-handed across the room, setting it down in front of Ten’s couch. Then he came back for Ten and Ten’s whole body flushed at the thought that Johnny might pick him up and carry him over. He wouldn’t protest.

Kun used to be convinced that this was some elaborate scheme because Ten liked him, and he didn’t mind because he likes Ten, too. But Riku is a dongsaeng and Kun was just being nice and they don’t owe each other anything, because Ten doesn’t like him like that anyway. If he did, he’s had over six years to say so. Kun is not compliant in whatever scheme Ten’s cooking up in his mind, whatever weird reason he has for always giving in to jealousy as if Kun isn’t always only ever looking at him.
Kun smooths his hands down his jeans and says, carefully, bitterly, “I’m a lot of people’s ge. I don’t know what you want from me, Ten.” Because he doesn’t.
There’s a unique kind of shame crawling up his throat when he gets into bed that night and is haunted by lips forming around the word gege. It’s been years since he’s been able to hear it in a voice that isn’t Ten’s.
He feels sick to his stomach. But his heart still yearns for something he is not comfortable with putting a name to.
