Gray Zone Warfare's 0.5 Update Adds Player Hideouts and Drug Smuggling as It Jumps to Alpha
MADFINGER Games detailed Gray Zone Warfare's 0.5 update, its biggest yet, in reporting on August 28. Gray Zone Warfare is a hardcore PvPvE extraction shooter, meaning you raid an open map, fight AI and other players, then try to escape with your loot. The update adds a buildable hideout for crafting and resource storage, drug production and smuggling runs through a black market, new playable characters, fresh locations, and new weapons. It also moves the game from pre-alpha to alpha. MADFINGER put it in this fall with no exact date.
Player impact: If you bounced off Gray Zone's thin progression, the hideout and crafting loop are the first real reason to reinstall. No date yet, so watch for a fall drop before committing your squad's grind.

SCP-Style Extraction Shooter Active Matter Locks a September 15 Launch on PC and Consoles
Publisher Gaijin Entertainment and developer Team Matter set Active Matter's 1.0 launch for September 15 on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and pushed a stability patch on August 28. Active Matter is a PvPvE extraction shooter set in a collapsing multiverse full of gravity anomalies and SCP-style objects (SCP is the horror wiki about contained anomalous items). The standard edition runs $29.99. Anyone who bought the earlier Gaijin Store early version gets the Steam release free with linked progress.
Player impact: A $29.99 extraction shooter landing on PC and consoles the same day is a cheap mid-September squad experiment. Early-version owners should link their Gaijin and Steam accounts now so they do not pay twice.

Marvel Rivals Drops a Limited Infinity Saga Store Tab Tied to the Avengers: Endgame Encore Rerelease
NetEase's hero shooter Marvel Rivals rolled out its August 27 patch, then added a limited-time Infinity Saga store tab on August 28 to promote the Avengers: Endgame Encore cinema rerelease. The tab rebundles previously released MCU costume sets, and every player got a coupon for 20% off purchases inside it. The gameplay side was light: a Doctor Strange shield exploit was fixed along with a handful of visual bugs, but there was no major hero rebalance.
Player impact: The coupon plus a countdown are built to trigger a buy-now impulse on old cosmetics. If you skipped those bundles before, this is the cheapest they get, but the timer is the whole point.

Gothic Action RPG Silver Palace Opens Console and PC Pre-Registration Ahead of a Final Test
Elementa Games opened global pre-registration for Silver Palace on August 28 across the PlayStation Store, Epic Games Store, App Store, and Google Play, widening it beyond mobile. Silver Palace is an Unreal Engine 5 open-world action RPG with a Victorian dark fairy-tale setting, and it has passed 10 million pre-registrations. The studio says it is preparing a final closed beta test within the year before launch. No release date is set yet.
Player impact: If a gothic anime action RPG is your lane, pre-registering now is the cleanest path into that final test. Console and PC players finally have a sign-up that is not mobile-only.

Dune: Awakening Headlines September Game Pass With a Day-One Console and Single-Player Launch
Microsoft's September Game Pass wave is led by Dune: Awakening, which reaches PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on September 22 with day-one Game Pass access and a new solo campaign, over a year after its PC debut. Other confirmed additions include RuneScape: Dragonwilds on September 15, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, Moonlighter 2, and Minecraft Dungeons 2 on September 29. Microsoft usually adds more titles in later waves through the month.
Player impact: Dune: Awakening on day-one Game Pass means console survival players can try the full game, now with a single-player option, without the buy-in. Worth a month of Game Pass if you skipped it on PC.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Lands on Switch 2 at a 91 Metacritic and a Steady 30 FPS
FromSoftware's Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition launched exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, bundling the base game with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. It sits at 91 on Metacritic across 40 reviews and 88 on OpenCritic. The port runs at 1080p with a 30 fps cap in both docked and handheld, holding close to target with minor dips (GamePro measured roughly 28 to 35 fps docked). Reviewers flag softer textures and reduced character detail as the tradeoff.
Player impact: If you wanted Elden Ring portable, this is finally a version worth owning, with the caveat of a 30 fps ceiling. PC and PS5 players chasing 60 fps gain nothing here.
