DMZ Doubles Its Dynamic Op Payouts to $20k, Three Days Before X01 Opens

Modern Warfare 4's latest DMZ patch raises Dynamic Op payouts from $5k-$10k to $10k-$20k, PCGamesN reported on November 2. Side Ops jump from $500 to $2,000 each, and every mission step now pays $500 instead of $300. Five Side Ops now match the minimum Dynamic Op reward. The new X01 map opens on Friday, November 6, with Season One.

Player impact: Cash for gear and insured loadouts just got much easier to stack, so expect better-kitted squads in X01 on day one. Grind Side Ops this week if you want a fat bank going into the new map.

Road to Vostok's Build 3 Targets Late December With Quests, a Grandma Trader, and a Likely Wipe

Road to Vostok's solo developer posted a SITREP on Steam on November 2 setting Build 3 for Q4 2026, with late December as the target. It adds a quest system split across 4-5 trader questlines, a new trader called Grandma on a Graveyard map (Area 05), and Civil Defense Shelters, one-time underground dungeons packed with AI. Build 3 will probably need a full game reset, though that is not final.

Player impact: Your current stash and progress likely do not survive into Build 3, so play it out now. Ironman players should expect a lot more surprise deaths once quests and shelters arrive.

ARC Raiders' Year-One Stats Count 14.8 Billion Dead Robots, and Zero PvP Numbers

Embark Studios shared ARC Raiders' first-year stats on November 2: 6 billion rounds completed, more than 14.8 billion ARC machines destroyed, 3.9 million Queens and 2.9 million Matriarchs killed. PCGamesN noted the roundup left out every PvP figure, including how many Raiders were downed or looted. In a PC Gamer interview the same day, the team called criticism of its AI voice lines fair and said it has since re-recorded lines with human actors.

Player impact: Embark is clearly framing year one around PvE and co-op, which fits its open question about a permanent PvE mode. Squads who hate getting third-partied should watch next month's PvE decision closely.

Warzone Pulls Verdansk and Rebirth Island on November 6, and Hajin Takes Over

Warzone Season 1 starts November 6 and temporarily removes Verdansk and Rebirth Island, Dexerto reported on November 2. Hajin, a North and South Korea map from Modern Warfare 4's DMZ with 13 points of interest and a new Gulag, becomes the main battle royale map. Zodiac, a smaller drone-factory map with 10 named locations, replaces Rebirth for Resurgence. Activision says both old maps return during Season 1 with new areas, but gave no date.

Player impact: Every drop spot, rotation, and loadout plan you built on Verdansk resets on Friday. Learn Hajin's Gulag and Zodiac's sightlines early before the sweats map them out.

Battlefield 6's Casino Heist Lands November 10 With a Night Map and a Radar Jammer

Battlefield 6 Season 5 Phase 2, Casino Heist, arrives November 10, MP1st reported on November 2. It adds European Casino, an infantry-only night map, the NSW4 Carbine with subsonic ammo by default, the M142 MRAS rocket truck for indirect fire, and the ADS-17 Signal Jammer that disrupts enemy radar and spotting. Extended magazines on the SCW-10 and KV9 will now carry handling penalties.

Player impact: SCW-10 and KV9 players running extended mags will feel slower handling, so rethink those builds. The jammer could make radar-reliant squads blind on the new map.

Overwatch's Director Says PvE Could Come Back, but a Real Campaign Needs a Whole New Game

Overwatch game director Aaron Keller told TheGamer he "would never discount" bringing PvE story content back, Dexerto reported on November 2. Keller admitted the earlier story missions "didn't really get played the way that we wanted" and that the PvE content created excitement without keeping players around. A full campaign like the one Blizzard originally promised for Overwatch 2 would likely need a separate team building what Keller called a whole new game.

Player impact: Do not expect a hero mission campaign inside Overwatch anytime soon. If PvE returns, it will likely be small events, so buy story bundles only for what is already in them.

Borderlands Passes 100 Million Copies, and Gearbox Is 'Cooking Hard' on More Borderlands 4

Gearbox and 2K said on November 2 that the Borderlands series has sold more than 100 million units since 2009. Gearbox also called Borderlands 4's Year One roadmap complete: two Story Packs, five Bounty Packs, two new Vault Hunters, two free raid bosses, and a Takedown endgame raid. The studio says it is "cooking hard" on more Borderlands 4 content for next year, with no details yet.

Player impact: Borderlands 4 has no new paid content dated, so there is no rush to buy a season pass now. Weekly activity refreshes and community challenges continue for anyone still farming loot.

GTA 6 on PS5 Reportedly Needs Firmware 14.22, Sony's Latest Anti-Jailbreak Update

PlayStation Game Size, an account that tracks the PS Store backend, reported on November 2 that GTA 6 on PS5 requires system firmware 14.22.00.00, the version Sony just released. The requirement was reportedly 14.10 in early October. Sony has shipped several updates since hackers began cracking PS5 firmware versions up to 13.60 in October. Sony has not confirmed the requirement.

Player impact: Update your PS5 before launch day or GTA 6 may not boot. Anyone on a jailbroken console has to choose between the exploit and the year's biggest game.

Sony Is Emailing US Players an Offer of Up to $400 to Trade In an Unused PS5

Sony is emailing US PS5 owners an offer of up to $400 to trade in a console they no longer use, Push Square and IGN reported on November 2. The program runs through reseller Back Market, and the final value depends on the console's condition. Microsoft sent Xbox Series X|S owners a similar trade-in email recently. Sony has not said when the offer ends.

Player impact: If a second PS5 is gathering dust, $400 is close to what a new one cost at launch. Check condition grading before shipping, because the headline number is a ceiling.

A Call of Duty Player Says Their $280 Asus Monitor Stopped a Stray Bullet

A Reddit user posted in r/ASUS on November 2 that a stray bullet fired outside their home went through the wall and lodged in their Asus TUF VG258QM, a 280Hz gaming monitor, while they were playing Call of Duty. The player heard bangs, dropped to the floor, and called 911, then found the bullet had not exited the screen. An Asus representative replied in the thread saying the company would reach out.

Player impact: A five-year-old 280Hz panel still serving as someone's main screen shows how long a good esports monitor lasts. If yours still hits its refresh rate, there is little reason to upgrade yet.

Half of October's New Steam Games Disclosed AI Content, Up From 1.7% in January 2024

49.9% of games released on Steam in October 2026 disclosed AI-generated content, according to an analysis of about 63,600 Steam pages by Reddit user ploz, reported by Dexerto on November 2. That is up from 1.7% in January 2024 and 26.4% in October 2025. AI art is the most common use at 63%. Only 14% of 2026 games with 1,000 or more reviews disclosed AI, against 47% of games with under 10 reviews.

Player impact: The New Releases page is now half AI-assisted, mostly from low-review shovelware. Filter by review count and check the AI disclosure box on store pages before you buy.

Yakuza Creator Nagoshi's Studio Is Officially Dissolved, Taking Gang of Dragon With It

Nagoshi Studio, founded in 2021 by Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi with NetEase backing, was formally dissolved according to a November 2 listing in Japan's Official Gazette, VGC reported. Its debut game Gang of Dragon, an action game starring actor Ma Dong-seok revealed in December 2025, goes with it. Bloomberg reported in March that NetEase stopped funding after learning the game needed about $44.4 million more to finish.

Player impact: Gang of Dragon is effectively cancelled, so drop it from your wishlist. It is another sign NetEase is cutting expensive Japanese projects before they ship.

Former Xbox COO Helen Chiang Denies She Was Fired for a Policy Violation

Helen Chiang, who left as Xbox COO in October after about three months in the role and 21 years at Microsoft, posted a LinkedIn statement on November 2 titled "Clarity is Kindness." She denied leaking, insider trading, harassment, fraud, or leaving for a competitor, and said she does not want her exit "reduced to an inaccurate story about incompetence." She called it a story about "staying true to your core values," without naming the disagreement.

Player impact: Xbox leadership churn keeps landing during layoffs and Game Pass pricing talk, so expect more strategy shifts. Players should watch what Xbox announces next, not what execs say.
