Overwatch Adds Vampiric Support Doctrine, Free to Trial September 12 to 14
Blizzard unveiled Doctrine at BlizzCon, a vampiric Support hero (the role that heals and buffs teammates) for Overwatch. A limited Hero Trial lets everyone play him free from September 12 through 14, with the full unlock arriving in Season 5. The same update runs the Junkrat Loot Hunt event through September 29 and trims D.Mon and D.Va, including a shorter D.Va transformation and reduced D.Mon armor.

Blizzard Turns StarCraft Into an Open-World Shooter, Targeting 2030
At BlizzCon on September 12, Blizzard revealed that the next StarCraft game is an open-world shooter set in the StarCraft universe, led by former Far Cry director Dan Hay. It targets a 2030 launch and got a grim-toned cinematic trailer, no gameplay yet. WARDOGS Sells 1.25 Million in a Day, Then Its Servers Fall Over
BULKHEAD's 100-player tactical FPS WARDOGS sold 1.25 million copies in under 24 hours of its Steam early access launch on September 10, per the studio. It peaked at 340,171 concurrent players on Steam, and the crush forced servers offline for a couple of hours behind long queues. CEO Joe Brammer called crossing a million copies at launch mental. Console versions are planned for 2028.
Player impact: Lobbies are packed right now, which is the whole point of a 100-player shooter, but expect queues and rough server nights while it scales. Good early sign for a genre that has had a brutal year.
