ARC Raiders Pauses Expeditions Until 2027 After One Last Run on September 8

Embark Studios said on August 25 that ARC Raiders' fifth Expedition, the co-op PvE raids that sit alongside the main extraction mode, starts September 8 and will be the last one until early 2027. The team is pulling the feature to rebuild it around what it called the biggest player pain points before Expeditions return with major improvements. The Phantom Targets event, where players hunt glitched Wasps for tech, runs until September 6.

Player impact: If you grind Expeditions for loot, bank what you can before September 8, because the mode goes dark for months. You keep the core extraction runs, but lose a whole PvE pillar over the back half of the year.

Gravhounds Is a New Co-op Extraction Shooter Where Dog-Headed Squads Loot Alien Worlds

Studio Octopus Panic revealed Gravhounds at Gamescom on August 26, a four-player co-op extraction shooter that mixes looting with base building. Squads of dog-headed fighters land on hostile planets, build turrets and defenses, survive escalating creature waves, then extract with resources. Players get an anti-gravity gun to fling loot to teammates and a rocket pack for movement. Early access is targeted for November 2 on Steam and Xbox, with playtest sign-ups open now.

Player impact: A fresh extraction shooter that leans co-op PvE and building could pull squads burned out on PvP loot runs. Sign up for the playtest now if you want an early read before the November 2 early access.

The Division 2 Reworks Rifles and Dark Zones in Its Next-Season Test Build

Ubisoft's The Division 2 outlined its next-season PTR changes at Gamescom on August 25, tuning the Determined perk, buffing rifles and marksman rifles, and adjusting Blackout Dark Zones and PvP balance around a new pressure gauge modifier. The team also set a September 24 panel to reveal gameplay for Echoes of Central Park, a DLC adding a new area, story missions, and endgame gear in the game's eighth year.

Player impact: If you still run the Dark Zone or PvP, the rifle buffs and Blackout tweaks could shift the meta, so test them on the PTR before they go live. Central Park is the reason to keep the game installed into next year.

NetEase Dates Its Free-to-Play Urban RPG ANANTA for January 15, 2027

NetEase and developer Naked Rain announced at Gamescom on August 25 that ANANTA, a free-to-play open-world action RPG set in a modern city, launches internationally on January 15, 2027 for PC, PS5, iOS, and Android. A new trailer revealed a second city called Chongxiao. NetEase says characters unlock through play rather than a gacha system, with paid items limited to cosmetics. Pre-registration passed 17 million.

Player impact: A big free-to-play open-world game skipping gacha character pulls is worth a look if you are tired of paying to roll for units. Pre-register if you want in at the January launch on PC, console, or mobile.

Ubisoft Turns Rainbow Six Into a Single-Player XCOM-Style Tactics Game for 2027

Ubisoft revealed Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics at Gamescom on August 25, a single-player turn-based strategy spin-off of Siege built by Ubisoft Paris. You command four-person squads drawn from 15 Siege operators, including Ash and Doc, across 45 handcrafted maps with destructible cover, defusing bombs and rescuing hostages. Ubisoft says there is no in-game store and no live-service monetization. It launches in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Player impact: This is Siege's operators and gadgets without the ranked grind or aim duels, aimed at players who want a slower solo format. No microtransactions is the pitch to win over Ubisoft skeptics.
