Hello! I’m back. I’ve got a lot going on in the part of my life that isn’t about making comics right now, and the making comics part of my life is, as a result, happening slowly. However, I would like to present you with some tidbits from the past.
First, I will show you a panel from the page I’m currently working on for NO RACCOONS IN HELL.
A comic in a comic. Fascinating… Now, on to the past:
Five years ago today, The Comics Journal ran this interview with me conducted by Craig Fischer.
At the time this interview was published, I had finished nine issues of Meeting Comics, and it had already changed drastically from what it was when I had started. Since then, I've drawn twenty more issues of Meeting Comics, and what I do now is very, very different in a lot of ways than what I talked about here. Here’s the link again.
In February, I wrote a piece on my patreon about how I have been inspired in my work by the fiction of Sara Gran.
Here’s an excerpt:
For most of my life, the feeling of having read a book or comic, or having watched a movie or heard an album or seen a concert went hand in hand with the thought that it would be cool to write a book or draw a comic or write a song, but these were halfway feelings. Kind of a “hey you know what I should do someday?” way of bullshitting myself.
Check it out if you’re interested. It’s free for anyone to read at my patreon.
I’ll be at this thing:
Chboro Zine Fest, Carrboro, NC. April 27th, 11AM-4PM
Put it on the calendar if you’re local to the Triangle area in NC!
Take care! To close things out, here are some pinup drawings of Val, some done on 5×7 pieces of cardstock on lunch break, and some done in copies of books!
Thanks for reading!
