Wallowing in Wildflowers
Hi there, fellow wallowers!
The weird thing about seasonal depression is that one day you wake up and the sun is out and it's warm enough to do without a coat and hat and there are flowers cautiously poking out of recently-thawed beds and just like that you feel hope again.
I'm always surprised by how abrupt it is. One minute, I don't even know how bad I feel because I'm basically frozen Jack Torrance at the end of *The Shining––*except, without all the wintery axe-murder attempts. The next, things just feel possible again. And not just possible, but good. Warm sun soaking deep into your bones levels of good.
And then, because I live in Vermont, I get 3ft of snow in one day and throw my back out shoveling because the snow blower is broken.
On the bright side, it was the perfect weather to finally read Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett. The first in the series was one of my favorite books last year.
March Project Updates
Surprise Novella
I finished the first draft of my dark, adult portal fantasy novella at the beginning of March. Yesterday, I read through it and made revision notes.
What's the vibe, you ask? I have two words for you friends: lichen tattoos. Also, I'm sorry to say: leaf vomits.
Writing Audio Fiction Class
My Writing Audio Fiction class with MetroWest Writers' Guild has been such a blast this month. It ended today, and I was so thrilled and proud to listen to the audio fiction the class created. The writers I worked with all recorded and sound designed micro-length episodes in which something broke in a dramatic and plot-critical way. They did such amazing work.
The Way We Haunt Now
Production is still underway for the final season of my audio drama. I'm so excited about how the episodes are coming out, and I can't wait to share them with the world. But we did experience a bit of a delay and so they didn't go live this month.
Here's a very short announcement about that. TL;DL look for episodes by the end of April!
Magic Embroidery Novel
I've been sitting with critique notes for a bit, now, and this month I've begun revamping my magic system and working on some plot adjustments. In the process, I accidentally invented embroidery-based necromancy––as you do. Magic Embroidery Novel will now include one (1) ghost, much to my endless delight.
