Extreme Noticing at the 4WCOP

Hello, person interested in Walkspace,

A quick newsletter with a couple of things happening this month.

First, we're presenting at the 4th World Congress of Psychogeography this weekend, usually held in Huddersfield but this year happening online due to you-know-what. What would have been a talk is now a video essay titled Extreme Noticing under Lockdown, or how to launch a walking collective during a pandemic.

The talk is about the Mapping Stirchley project, how it came about and what it means for the future of Walkspace. Hopefully it will inspire you to do more walking!

Pete, Fiona and Andy will be discussing the film on Saturday at 11:30am on the Same Place Through Different Eyes panel. To join us, and to access all the other wonderful talks, films and oddnesses over the weekend, register here for free.

Second, Andy has been working with Hipkiss and Graney on their Stirchley Tapestry project, using our map to get people exploring their neighbourhood and make drawings. It's featured at the end of our film and the next workshop is on September 20th. If you'd like to take part, email hipkissandgraney@outlook.com to reserve a place.

For a while there, Walkspace felt like it was over before it had properly begun, but we feel we're on the road back to somewhere good now. Stay tuned for developments!

best,

The Walkspace team
