Don't Call It A Comeback
It's cold af outside, so here's a new podcast with Sven Birkerts about culture and life. Also, BIRDY!
The Virtual Memories Show News
A 2x/week email about a podcast about books & life

Sven Birkerts’ daily essays-musings-reveries on Substack got me thinking that he & I oughtta talk about art, writing, mortality, aging, resistance, among other things, and share it with you. So we did; here’s the podcast we recorded yesterday.
This one has some serious and honest talk about who we are — on the page, on screen, and in our lives — and I’m glad Sven was up for being my first pod-guest since mid-November. I hope you’ll give it a listen. (And subscribe to Sven’s daily post.)
As noted in the intro to that episode, this is NOT a return to a weekly schedule; the podcast is still on a general hiatus.
Meanwhile, it’s cold af and the furnace is struggling to keep the house warm. That’s making it tough to focus on my book, but I’d like to write a few pieces today, so it’s time to get to it.
Here’s a little BIRDY! for you.

And here’s a funny one from Newark Penn Station:

Recent podcast episodes: Indefinite Hiatus monologue • The Guest List • Jonathan Sandler • Morten Høi Jensen • Prue Shaw • Glenn Kurtz • Jennifer Hayden
Every book (non-comics) that I’ve finished since 1989.
If you want to help out with Virtual Memories Show expenses — this email runs $29/month, podcast-hosting is $25/month, and the remote recording account is $20/month — or otherwise Contribute To The Cause, you can make a one-time contribution of any size via Stripe, or a recurring one via Patreon. Or maybe save your money for when I launch a Kickstarter for my photo book.

My postcard-a-day habit is NOT on hiatus, so let me know if you want to be on my list.
Until Next Time
Thanks for reading this far. See you next time, I hope.
I bought a novel, some perfume, a fortune all for you / But it’s not my conscience that hates to be untrue / I asked of my reflection, “Tell me, what is there to do?”,
