The Stuttering Lede, Oct. 25th, 2024

10 days until we find out if we can stop fascism

“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.” Robert Frost

Elections 2024

  • What do you call a man who says things white supremacists say, does what white supremacists do & openly praises the dictionary's literal personification of "white supremacy?" According to your media faves, you call him anything BUT a "white supremacist."

  • Trump: Think of the words.. towns that have been invaded and conquered. They've been conquered, they've been conquered.. And we have a lot of towns that haven't yet been infected.

  • Trump says migrants with weapons have taken over Times Square.

  • Bloomberg News analyzed more than 53,000 posts sent from Musk’s Twitter account between 2011 and 2024 to determine which topics he prioritized -- and which received the most engagement. Anti-immigration and voter fraud conspiracies top the list.

  • ADL CEO "Greenblatt found time in the past two days to tweet about his loathing for Jewish pro-Palestine student protesters, but didn’t have a moment to spare for the single-most terrifying thing an American Jew could read: that the potential next president thinks Adolf Hitler was good."

  • USPS blue collection box damaged by fire overnight.

  • "Musk’s involvement in Trump’s campaign cannot be separated from Trump’s pick of JD Vance as his running mate, someone who is even more pro-Russian than Musk, and someone whose regressive Catholic ties have aligned neatly with Russia in the recent past."

  • Iceland embraced a shorter work week. Here’s how it turned out.

  • Heritage Foundation has a Zionist adjunct to Project 2025 called “the Esther Project.”

  • Angela Merkel's memoirs are out next month. This week's Charlemagne revisits her legacy. She led Germany - and thus Europe - as if in a make-believe world, letting it enjoy an extended geopolitical and economic nap from which it still needs to wake up.

  • Target is lowering prices on more than 2,000 items in an effort to win back cash-strapped customers for the holiday season. They plan to cut prices for some food and beverages, essentials, and other items.

  • Elon Musk's pro-Trump super PAC just awarded $1 million to registered voters in Michigan & Wisconsin. This comes one day after news broke that DOJ warned the PAC that its sweepstakes may be illegal. They mysteriously did not name a winner yesterday, but they named 2 today.
